Biobased Materials Group

The biobased materials has the following research fields: Material's Enzymes, Biomineralization of Ciliates, Organismic Diversity, Protozoan Morphology and Computational Cell-Biology

The Department of Biobased Materials consist of an interdisciplinary team, that investigates a rich variety of organisms, such as single-cell organisms and complex tissues. The research focus is on the developmental processes, function within the organisms and potentially synthetical applications.

Research interests are: Material's Enzymes, Biomineralization of Ciliates, Organismic Diversity, Protozoan Morphology and Computational Cell-Biology.

Innovative Analytics for biobased materials

Jointly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) - Operational Program Baden-Württemberg 2014 to 2020 "Innovation and Energy Transition" and by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg is a Variable Pressure Cryo Scanning Electron Microscope for the University of Stuttgart provided the analysis of bio-based materials.

The large-scale equipment is to be used for the rapid and robust material analysis of bio-based nanocomposites and the functional characterization of interfaces between hard and soft matter.
